RAMA

Introduction

The RAMA (Rendering, Animation, and Modelling Architecture) project attempts to establish a set of standard interfaces for 3D modelling, animation, and rendering. Extensions (plugins) can implement these interfaces in order to interact with applications that use the interfaces. This would allow an extension to be used by an application that the programmer of the extension is unaware of. A side benefit of this process is that neither extensions nor applications need to be recompiled if they wish to be integrated. Setting up an application to use a new extension consists of dropping the extension into a directory the application knows about, and the applications can use it without fuss.

RAMA will be released under the GPL, and is being developed on the Linux and Win32 platforms.
